BayCon is dedicated to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all attendees. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal Harassment: Offensive or derogatory comments, slurs, or jokes based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Physical Harassment: Unwanted physical contact, intimidation, stalking, or following of an individual.
  • Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.
  • Cyber Harassment: Harassment, threats, or stalking through digital communication channels, including social media platforms, emails, or online forums.
  • Cosplay Harassment: Inappropriate comments, unwelcome advances, or disrespectful behavior towards cosplayers based on their appearance or character portrayal. Please see our Cosplay Policy for more detail.

We encourage all attendees to report any instances of harassment immediately to the ConOps/FLARE team or any designated staff members. Reports can be made in person at the designated ConOps area or via email.

Upon receiving a harassment report, BayCon will take the following actions:

    1. Investigation: The ConOps team will promptly and discreetly investigate all reported incidents of harassment.
    2. Support and Assistance: We will provide support to the affected individual(s) and offer resources for their well-being and safety.
    3. Zero Tolerance: If a harassment incident is substantiated, BayCon will take immediate and decisive action, which may include but is not limited to:
      • Expulsion from the convention without refund.
      • Banning the offender(s) from future BayCon events.
      • Reporting the incident to local authorities if necessary.
    4. Appeals Process: If an attendee disagrees with the resolution of their harassment report, they may appeal under our Appeals Policy. The convened panel will review the appeal and provide a response within a reasonable timeframe.

BayCon strives to create a convention environment that is inclusive, respectful, and enjoyable for everyone. We request the cooperation of all attendees in adhering to this Harassment Policy to help us maintain a safe and welcoming space for all.
