BayCon Blood Drive!

Vitalant is onsite for the BayCon Blood Drive this year🩸! Come donate blood on FRIDAY, JULY 5TH , between 12 – 3 PM. Find the bloodmobile in the Marriott parking lot (Look for the signs 👀).

You can SIGN UP EARLY to be a donor by making an appointment with Vitalant, using the blood drive code: BAYCON , and join #TEAM DONOR to receive an exclusive T-Shirt!

Also, be sure to say hi all weekend to Vitalant at the Heinlein Society fan table in the California Ballroom foyer.

Badge Prices Go up 11/1

This is the last week to get your BayCon 2024 full weekend badge for $75! Starting November 1st the rates go up to $85.

You can also snag a free badge by becoming one of a limited number of Charter members for the SOCIETY FOR SPECULATIVE FICTION (spSF), in its inaugural year. Charter members get exclusive swag and charter members-only events at BayCon. Memberships are $100 (including the free badge to BayCon 2024), but go up significantly next week. Don’t miss out on your chance to be a founding member and support speculative fiction in the Bay Area!

Membership Rates Go Up December 1st

Don’t wait another second! Full weekend memberships to A Night at the Space Opera are $65 until December 1st! After 12/1, rates go up to $75. This price increase also applies to Military/Veteran memberships as well (which will go to $60). If you’ve been putting it off, now’s the time to get registered! Memberships at BayCon 2023 means:

  • Access to all general attending function spaces at the convention, including the Dealers Room, Art Show, Maker’s Room, and all panels.
  • An invitation to a concert performed by our Special Musical Guest, Laser Malena-Webber of the Doubleclicks!
  • Access to Gaming, Artemis Spaceship Bridge Simulator, and other exciting programming.
  • Access to the Party Floor, where you can hang with other fans and guests in a casual setting after programming ends for the day. (Also, “roll pods” with TRMN!

Celebrate BayCon 2022 by wearing your shirt to the convention and as a keepsake to remember the awesome weekend! The T-Shirts feature artwork from our amazing Artist Guest of Honor Galen Dara.

There are several T-Shirt styles and colors to select from. Price will vary depending on type of fabric and any size larger than XL my increase the cost. Please allow up to two weeks for delivery.

BayCon 2022 Welcomes Featured Guest Tananarive Due

BayCon 2022: The Sun Rises is happy to share our latest Featured Guest: Tananarive Due!

TANANARIVE DUE (tah-nah-nah-REEVE doo) is an award-winning author who teaches Black Horror and Afrofuturism at UCLA. She is an executive producer on Shudder’s groundbreaking documentary Horror Noire: A History of Black Horror. She and her husband/collaborator Steven Barnes wrote “A Small Town” for Season 2 of “The Twilight Zone” on CBS All Access/Paramount+. A leading voice in black speculative fiction for more than 20 years, Due has won an American Book Award, an NAACP Image Award, and a British Fantasy Award, and her writing has been included in best-of-the-year anthologies. Her books include Ghost Summer: Stories, My Soul to Keep, and The Good House. She and her late mother, civil rights activist Patricia Stephens Due, co-authored Freedom in the Family: a Mother-Daughter Memoir of the Fight for Civil Rights. She is married to author Steven Barnes, with whom she collaborates on screenplays. They live with their son, Jason, and two cats.
