Announcing Westercon 77 / BayCon 2025!

A Convenient Parallel Dimension

Join us July 4-7, 2025 at the Marriott Hotel in Santa Clara, CA for the West Coast Science Fantasy Conference, Westercon 77, hosted by BayCon 2025.

We will have Guests of Honor, J.K. Woodward, Sasha Graham, Stacy Meyn, Tracy Newby, and Catherine Mary Stewart with more to be announced before the convention. Our theme will be focusing on the Paranormal, Horror, and Supernatural in Speculative Fiction and we will be continuing to highlight women/NB in STEM and to include other diverse voices from our community.

Expect the return of our Marketplace, Artist Gallery, and other great BayCon experiences.

BayCon Blood Drive!

Vitalant is onsite for the BayCon Blood Drive this year🩸! Come donate blood on FRIDAY, JULY 5TH , between 12 – 3 PM. Find the bloodmobile in the Marriott parking lot (Look for the signs 👀).

You can SIGN UP EARLY to be a donor by making an appointment with Vitalant, using the blood drive code: BAYCON , and join #TEAM DONOR to receive an exclusive T-Shirt!

Also, be sure to say hi all weekend to Vitalant at the Heinlein Society fan table in the California Ballroom foyer.

Society for Promotion of Speculative Fiction Call for Bids to Host BayCon 2025 & 2026

BayCon is pleased to announce our open call for bids for BayCon 2025 & 2026! Think you have what it takes to organize and throw your own BayCon? Society for Promotion of Speculative Fiction‘s board is now accepting applications to Chair upcoming conventions for 2025 & 2026.

Interested parties should email hr@baycon.org and request the bid package, which includes a cover letter and application form. All bids must be submitted no later than May 31st, 2024.

Bid proposal submissions are sent to the Society Board of Directors for review and consideration. Following acceptance or rejection of a bid proposal, submitters will be contacted by the Society Bid Committee. Accepted submitters will be invited to a special meeting of the Society Board to present and receive feedback on their bid. Depending on the timing of the bid, a deadline will be given to inform the submitter of the Board’s decision. Finally, the winning bidder will be notified by the date(s) listed in the bid schedule below.

For this year only, we are accepting bids for 2025 and 2026. Thereafter, bid proposals will be accepted for two years out from the upcoming event. Failure to submit a bid before the specified deadline will disqualify that bid from consideration (although it may be submitted again for a future event if it is submitted in accordance with guidelines).

Bid Schedule and Important Dates

  • Proposal Submission Deadline (BayCon 2025 & 2026): May 31, 2024
  • Notification of Award of Chairpersonship: June 15, 2024
  • Launch Party at BayCon 2024: July 4-7, 2024
  • BayCon 2025: July 4 – 7, 2025 | BayCon 2026: July 3 – 6, 2026
