Reward for Return of Missing Cell Phone
May 27, 2009
Dear BayCon Members:
One of our attendees lost a pink Nokia flip-phone on Monday afternoon during BayCon 2009. The attendee believes that the contents of the phone are sufficiently valuable as to merit offering a significant reward for the return of the cell phone, no questions asked.
If you are in possession of the phone, or know who might be in possession, we ask that you please contact us at chairman09@baycon.org. All communication will be considered confidential.
Sincerely,
The BayCon Management Team

Important Announcement from the Chairman
May 19, 2009
Dear Attendees,
It is with deep regret that I must inform you that Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon will not be able to attend BayCon this year due to illness. Their doctor felt it was best for Mercedes to refrain from travel at this time as she has a nasty version of the common flu. We are in contact with them, and have been told to expect her full recovery.
As a long-time fan of their work, I share your disappointment. I assure you that we are doing everything in our power to have them available via internet tele-conferencing, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel is working with us to solve the technical challenges of making that tele-conferencing possible.
We are also working on replacement programming that will highlight and celebrate their body of work and achievements. In addition, they are sending many of their works of art for you to see, as well as autographed bookplates for BayCon to distribute.
Mercedes and Larry are very disappointed at this turn of events, as they were very much looking forward to being with us here at BayCon.
We will keep you posted as we confirm our plans, and as we work towards having Mercedes and Larry available for you by tele-conferencing at BayCon.
Thank you for your understanding,
Tycho Petersen
Chairman
BayCon 2009
As noted in his biography, Fred Patten suffered a serious stroke in 2005. Due to long-term consequences, and other health care considerations, Fred is unable to attend in person. Recently, BCTV staff traveled to Los Angeles and taped an extensive interview. His videotaped interview will be shown in the Grand Ballroom on Sunday morning at 10am.
